Purpose
In the Shipping Order Detail page, the Create Pending Order function allows users to create a pending order of inventory to a Shipping Order.
What can you do with it?
By using the Create Pending Order feature, you can streamline the process of preparing inventory for shipment. It enables users to specify which products and quantities they need to reserve for a future shipping order, ensuring that inventory is ready and waiting when it's time to ship.
How is it done?
Select Product: From the data list, choose the inventory product you wish to reserve.
Enter Quantity: Use the numeric field to set the amount of the selected product needed for your pending order.
Choose Inventory Unit: Select the unit of measurement for the inventory product from the available options.
Choose Date: Decide the date for this action. If left empty, it defaults to the current date and time. Note that it cannot be backdated before the last Shipping Order Date & Time.
Check Inventory Already Allocated: If applicable, check the box to indicate if this inventory has been previously earmarked for another purpose.
Click on Save to complete the order, securing the products in their specified quantities for future allocation to a shipping order.
Important Considerations
Ensure that the date is correctly chosen, as it defines when the pending order impacts inventory.
The quantity and unit of measurement should accurately reflect your needs to minimize discrepancies during shipment.
Remember that the Inventory Already Allocated option is crucial when you have overlapping requirements for the same products.
Best Practices
Regularly review your pending orders to avoid over-allocating products.
Use clear and specific naming conventions for your inventory products to streamline the selection process.
Coordinate with your logistics team to align shipping schedules with inventory availability.
