How to Set Up Giraffe

This Guide will take you through the setup of Giraffe both via USB and the Network step by step.

Setup Through USB

Please follow these steps to set up printing through USB:

  1. Download the appropriate installer. Open the application once downloaded.

    • Click “Cancel” once this pop-up appears


    • Navigate to System Preferences → Security & Privacy. Unlock the page, enter appropriate credentials, and click “Open anyway.”


    • A final warning will appear. Click “Okay” to continue with the Giraffe setup


  2. Enter the most appropriate subdomain on which the printers will be set up. For this example, it will be left Blank so that it can point to https://dashboard.elevatedsignals.com.

  3. Log in using valid credentials.

  4. Accept the Token.

  5. Within the menu in the top left corner, select User → Add USB Printer. A new window will appear.

  6. Select the appropriate printer from the Select, and then click Add USB Printer. If the Printer is not there, please review the troubleshooting page.

  7. Once added, click on the printer icon next to the newly listed printer to perform a test print. If the printer does not appear, click on the “Refresh” button on the page. The printer should print out an image of our company logo and name “Elevated Signals”.


Setup Through Network

Please follow these steps to set up printing through the Network:

  1. Ensure that the Zebra Printer is on the Network and is discoverable. The setup of both Zebra Printing Software and Giraffe has been accomplished as well.

  2. Log in to Elevated Signals

  3. Navigate to the Printers page by clicking on the Facility icon and then the Printers icon.

  4. Click ‘Add a Network Printer. ’ A form should appear.

  5. Set the name and IP address of the printer and click ‘Create. ’

    • If you do not know the IP address or port of the printer, please refer to your printer’s user manual to find it.

    • Common default ports for Zebra printers are 9100 or 6101.

  6. Click on ‘Edit’:

    • Once your printer is created, it will appear in the printer list on this page. Click on your newly created printer to get to the printer detail page.

  7. Fill out your Barcode Type Settings:

    • 2D Barcode - A QR Code

    • 1D Barcode - A standard barcode

    • No Barcode

  8. Select your Label type.

    • 2x1

    • Plant loop

  9. Select Labels per row.

  10. Click ‘Update. ’ Your printer is now configured on the Elevated Signals side.

  11. Open Giraffe, and you will be presented with a screen that shows ‘dashboard.elevatedsignals.com’ by default. Please update the URL if your Elevated Signals URL is custom to your organization. On the next page, log in with your Elevated Signals credentials. Finally, click on ‘Accept Token’ on the next page to fully log in to Giraffe.

  12. Once logged in to Giraffe, you should be presented with a screen that has any printers you’ve set up on Elevated Signals listed out.

  13. Click on the printer icon next to your listed printer to perform a test print. Your printer should print out an image of our company logo and name “Elevated Signals”.
