Purpose

The Inventory Item Detail page is your go-to spot for keeping your inventory data fresh and accurate. Here, the Edit Inventory Item function empowers you to effortlessly update any necessary inventory item details.

What can you do with it?

With the Edit Inventory Item feature, you can ensure your inventory records are accurate and current. It allows users to update various details such as name, expiration date, vendor, and SKU within the inventory. This uncomplicated process helps in maintaining clarity and control over your inventory items.

How is it done?

  1. Access Inventory Item Detail Page

    • Navigate to the Inventory module.

    • Select the item you wish to edit from your inventory list.

  2. Edit Key Details

    • Inventory Name: Type the new name in the Text Field provided. This sets the new name for your inventory item.

    • Expiry Details:

      • Inventory Expires?: Check the Checkbox if the item has an expiry date.

      • Expiry Date: Use the Date Select option to choose a relevant expiry date. This adds an expiry date to your item.

    • Archived: Mark the inventory item as archived by selecting the Checkbox. Note, archiving is only possible if there is no active positive inventory for this item.

  3. Assign Vendors and SKUs

    • Vendor: Set the vendor for the inventory item by selecting from the Data Select of vendors.

    • SKU: Assign the SKU by selecting it via the Data Select of SKU options.

Important Considerations

  • Ensure that the information you input, particularly expiration and archiving, correctly reflects the true status of your inventory.

  • Once archived, an item cannot have an active positive inventory, so double-check quantities before archiving.

Best Practices

  • Regularly update inventory items to keep your records precise and up to date.

  • Double-check dates and vendor information to avoid miscommunication or errors.

  • Use clear and consistent naming conventions to make searching and sorting inventory items more straightforward.

  • Always verify the completion of changes before leaving the edit page to ensure data integrity.
