Understanding the Issue

This issue can occur if the inventory item was created when the "Require SKU" setting was initially disabled for this product. Now that the SKU requirement is active, the system enforces this setting for adjustments, even though it wasn’t required at the time of creation.

Solution: Temporarily Disable the SKU Requirement

To complete the inventory adjustment without issues, follow these steps:

  1. Temporarily Disable the "Require SKU" Setting:

    • Go to the product settings and disable the "Require SKU" option.

  2. Complete the Inventory Adjustment:

    • Perform the inventory adjustment as needed.

  3. Re-enable the "Require SKU" Setting:

    • Once the adjustment is complete, return to the product settings and re-enable the SKU requirement.

Note: This temporary adjustment allows you to bypass the SKU requirement for inventory items created before the SKU setting was activated.

Future Considerations

  • We’ll also be working on potential updates to improve this experience and make the validation process more seamless for inventory adjustments.
