Purpose

On the Inventory Product Detail page, you can customize how Inventory Units are displayed and managed. This feature gives you the flexibility to choose how you want your inventory units to be represented for better tracking and organization.

What can you do with it?

With the Customize Inventory Units tool, you'll be able to choose or create your preferred way of measuring inventory. Whether it's switching from units to cases or establishing a completely new measurement, this feature enables you to tailor inventory units for optimal efficiency and clarity.

How is it done?

  1. Navigate to the Inventory Product Detail Page: Start by accessing the Inventory Product Detail page where you manage your products.

  2. Display Unit Selection:

    • Click on the Display Unit option to view the current unit setting.

    • If you wish to change it, select a new unit from the available list.

  3. Create a New Inventory Unit:

    • To introduce a new unit, click the New button under the Inventory Unit section.

    • Define your unit's specifics and ensure it aligns with your inventory requirements.

  4. Finalize Your Selection:

    • Once you've set your preferred unit, click the Select button to apply the changes.

    • Confirm your selections to update the inventory settings.

Important Considerations

  • Consistency is Key: When customizing units, ensure they are consistently applied across similar products to maintain uniformity in reports and stock counts.

  • Accessibility: Remember that all team members should understand and use the same unit definitions to prevent confusion.

Best Practices

  • Regular Reviews: Periodically review your customized units to check whether they still meet the business needs or if an update is necessary.

  • Documentation: Keep a record of all custom units and their definitions for easy reference by your team. This provides clarity and aids in training new team members.
