Purpose
On the Inventory Products List page, the Copy Inventory Product function allows users to effortlessly duplicate an existing inventory product, creating a new product with similar attributes, making inventory management more efficient and organized.
What can you do with it?
With the Copy Inventory Product feature, you can streamline your workflow by creating a new inventory item based on an existing one. This saves time by reusing data from current inventory products, ensuring consistency and accuracy across your inventory.
How is it done?
Select an Inventory Product: Use the Data Select option to choose the existing product you wish to copy.
Provide Key Information:
Name: Enter a new name for the product. It will initially display as "[Copied Product Name] copy."
Product Code: Input a unique code, serving as the prefix for future inventory lots or items.
Assign Vendors and Categories:
Select one or more Vendors using the multi-select feature.
Choose appropriate Inventory Categories that the product belongs to.
Link Associated SKUs: Utilize the multi-select option to associate existing SKUs with the new product.
Set Additional Requirements:
Require SKU: Check this box if a SKU is mandatory when inventory is created.
Non-Inventory Destruction: Enable this to mark the product as a byproduct, allowing only its destruction.
Require Batch: Check this box if a batch is necessary for this product's inventory.
Customize Inventory Units: Click on the Customize Units button to tailor how units are recorded and managed for this product.
Important Considerations
Always verify the accuracy of the product code and name to maintain inventory integrity.
Understand the implications of enabling Non-Inventory Destruction or Require Batch to avoid creating unusable inventory items.
Best Practices
Regularly review and update vendor and inventory category associations for each copied product.
Double-check SKU requirements for seamless inventory operations.
Periodically evaluate the need for byproducts to ensure efficient inventory usage.
