Purpose

Within the Inventory Item Detail page, the Destroy [Product] function allows users to efficiently remove inventory from a specified inventory item.

What can you do with it?

The Destroy [Product] feature is designed to streamline inventory management by allowing users to remove undesired inventory easily. Whether you need to clear space, manage expired stocks, or handle defective products, this feature ensures accurate record-keeping and traceability throughout the inventory lifecycle.

How is it done?

  1. Access the Inventory Item Detail Page: Navigate to the relevant inventory item where the destruction should occur.

  2. Initiate Destruction:

    • Select a Destruction Lot from the available open lots.

    • Choose the specific Inventory ID linked to the item you wish to destroy.

  3. Determine Inventory Amount:

    • Optionally, enable the Use Remaining Inventory checkbox if you intend to destroy all remaining stock for the selected item.

    • Enter the specific Quantity to be destroyed in the numeric field.

    • Choose the relevant Inventory Unit associated with this product.

  4. Document Destruction Details:

    • Select a concise Destruction Reason from the available options.

    • Provide additional context or details in the Description text area for future reference.

    • Enter the Timestamp for when the destruction should be recorded. If left blank, the current date and time will be applied. Note: This date cannot precede the Destruction Lot Open Date & Time.

Important Considerations

  • Ensure the correct Destruction Lot is selected to maintain accurate traceability.

  • Double-check the Inventory ID for precision and to prevent unintended destruction.

  • Use Remaining Inventory only when you intend to destroy all stock; once enabled, this action automatically sets all available stock for destruction.

Best Practices

  • Regularly audit destruction events to maintain data accuracy and identify trends.

  • Enter comprehensive descriptions for each destruction event to facilitate future reference and reasoning.

  • Stay informed about inventory levels and trends to make informed decisions regarding destruction and replenishment.
