1. Returning and Combining Inventory Quantities in a Work Order

Scenario: If you need to combine quantities of two or more inventory items (such as samples or materials from different batches) into one item and then adjust inventory records to reflect external shipments or returns, hereโ€™s how to proceed.

Solution:

  1. Combine Inventory in a Work Order:

    • Use a Batch Split or Inventory Reconciliation work order type.

    • Add both quantities (e.g., from two inventory items) as inputs.

    • Output a new, combined inventory item with the total weight of the combined inputs.

  2. Shipping and Receiving the Combined Inventory:

    • After creating the combined inventory, ship it out to the intended location or company.

    • When the material is returned, create a Purchase Order (PO) to receive the items back into your inventory for tracking, especially if the material will be processed further or prepared for destruction.

2. Returning Unused Material in a Work Order

Scenario: If you need to stop a work order process (e.g., a drying or processing activity) and return any remaining input material back to its original inventory, you can use the Return function to accurately track this adjustment.

Solution:

  1. Open the relevant work order where the unused material is recorded as an input.

  2. Use the Return button to send any remaining material back to its original input source.

    • This action will add the remaining material back as an output within the work order, but no new inventory ID will be created.โ€‹

Note: This approach ensures that returned material is accurately reflected in your inventory without creating duplicates, keeping your records clean and up-to-date.
