Overview

Not sure which Work Order Input form to use? This overview explains each option so you can confidently launch the right input workflow.

Before You Start

  • Confirm the Work Order’s intent and expected input type

e.g., packaging jobs usually call for bulk lots

  • Know which inventory or plant materials you'll be entering

e.g., items tied to a known batch or lot

Step 1: Add Inventory Inputs

Use one of these forms to pull in materials from Inventory:

  • Inventory – Pick by product (best for direct materials)

  • By Product – Pick by vendor + product

  • By Lot – Choose a known lot

  • By ID – Input a known inventory ID

  • By Location – Start from a location

  • By SKU – Start from SKU, then refine

Pro Tip: Each form filters the same data from a different angle—choose what you know first.

Step 2: Choose Your Plant Input Form

If you're adding plants to this Work Order, use one of the following:

  • Plants – Select a known source batch

  • By Location – Pull all plants from a chosen location

Pro Tip: Use “Plants” for detailed batch tracking. Use “By Location” for speed.

🗒️ Note: Ensure the selected plants are active and in the correct location.

Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Inventory not appearing in the form

    • Fix: Confirm the inventory exists and is available. It may already be linked to another Work Order or have a status block like Quarantine. If blocked, check with a colleague before proceeding.

  • Problem: Plants aren’t showing up in the “By Location” form

    • Fix: Make sure the plants are active and correctly assigned to the selected location.

  • Problem: I entered the wrong value for the input

    • Fix: Remove the incorrect entry from the Work Order and restart the input process.
