Accessing the Statuses Page
Step 1: Navigate to the Statuses Page
In Elevated Signals, go to the Quality section.
Click on Statuses. This is where all existing statuses are listed and where you can create new ones.
Step 2: Creating a New Status
Click on the New Status button.
Enter a name for your status (e.g., "QA Review").
Select the Status Type to determine where this status will be applied:
Currently there is only support for:
Lots
Batches
Inventory
Step 3: Setting a Blocking Status
If you want the status to prevent inventory from being used or moved, check the Is Blocking option.
Inventories with a blocking status cannot be consumed, moved, or added to shipping or work orders until the status is changed to a non-blocking status.
Inventory that is part of a lot or batch with a blocking status will also face the same restriction.
You can create a secondary status (e.g., "QA Release"), which would be a non-blocking status to release the inventory once it passes review.
Applying Statuses in Work Orders and Purchase Orders
Enable Statuses in Work Order Types
Go to the Work Order Types page.
Select a work order type.
Scroll down to the Source Outputs Related to Work Orders section.
Check the Show Output Inventory Status box to enable status selection during work order creation.
You can also set a default output inventory status here if your workflow requires that certain statuses, like blocking statuses, are automatically applied.
After updating the work order type, any outputs for that work order type will have the status field enabled at the bottom with any default you may have set in the work order type configuration.
Purchase Orders
Status is available for selection by default when receiving inventory in Purchase Orders
Managing Inventories with Blocking Statuses
If an inventory is set with a blocking status, it will appear as blocked when you attempt to use it in other work orders or processes.
To change the status and unblock the inventory, go to the Inventory page.
Use Inventory Actions to update the status (e.g., from "QA Review" to "QA Release").
You can also set the inventory status at the lot level, by navigating to a lot page and going to Lot Actions and selecting the Set Status to all Inventories option.
Applying Statuses to Other Entities
Lots: You can apply statuses at the lot level by navigating to the Lots page, selecting Lot Actions, and setting the desired status.
Batches: Similarly, you can set statuses at the batch level via the Batch Actions menu on the Batches page.
Best Practices
Inventory-Level Control: It's recommended to apply blocking statuses at the inventory level to allow other parts of a batch to continue moving through the process without being fully locked down. This approach enables more granular control and flexibility.
