Overview
In Elevated Signals, records within custom forms can be tied to specific data sources such as batches or locations. This functionality allows users to easily link records to relevant items in the system, enhancing traceability and organization. The following summarizes key features and options when using data selection within custom forms.
Data Select
The Data Select is a dropdown selector used in custom forms. The options within this dropdown are pulled from a data source available in Elevated Signals, such as batches or locations.
Data Source
The Data Source is the source from which the dropdown options are populated. Users can choose different sources like batches or locations, and the available options will update based on the selected source.
Relate to Data Source
The Relate to Data Source option ties the record being created in the form to the item selected in the dropdown (e.g., a specific batch or location). This allows records to automatically associate with the selected data, ensuring that any actions performed within the form are linked to that item.
Location-specific Behaviour
If a location is selected, the record will also be tied to all batches in that location at the time of record submission.
Disabling Relate to Data Source
The Relate to Data Source option can be disabled if users want to include a data select in the form but do not want to tie the record to the selected item. This is useful in cases where a location needs to be shown for context without associating the record with all items in that location.
Quick Create
The Quick Create feature enables users to create a new item directly from the dropdown selector if needed. For example, if the data source is set to batches, users can create a new batch, and similarly, new locations can be created if the data source is set to locations.
Allow N/A
The NA Allow option adds a "Not Applicable" option to the dropdown, allowing users to bypass selecting an item if the data source does not apply to the form being submitted.
Filters
Depending on the selected data source, additional filters may be available:
Batch Type Filter (for batches)
Location Type Filter (for locations)
These filters allow further customization of the dropdown options based on specific types of batches or locations.
