Purpose

The Split Batch by Plants feature, found on the Cultivation Batch Detail page, allows users to divide plants into one or multiple batches. This process automatically generates a Work Order to record the batch split.

What can you do with it?

With Split Batch by Plants, you can:

  • Divide a single batch into two new batches

  • Create an offshoot batch from an existing one

  • Move plants to another active batch

  • Track the split process with detailed work orders

This flexibility helps you manage your cultivation workflow more effectively, whether you're expanding your operation or isolating specific plant groups.

How is it done?

  1. Choose your split type:

    • Select either "Two New Batches" or "Offshoot Batch"

  2. For Two New Batches:

    • Fill in details for both new batches:

      • Name (optional, defaults to Batch ID)

      • Location

      • Number of Plants

      • Description

  3. For Offshoot Batch:

    • Choose to split to a new batch or existing batch

    • Provide details for the destination batch:

      • Name (for new batch)

      • Location

      • Number of Plants

      • Description

    • If splitting to an existing batch:

      • Select the destination batch

      • Specify the number of plants to move

  4. Set the move date (defaults to current date/time if left empty)

  5. Add Work Order details:

    • Description

    • Equipment used

    • Records to attach

  6. Review and confirm the split operation

Important Considerations

  • The total number of plants across all batches must equal the original batch count

  • Location fields auto-fill with the current batch's location but can be changed

  • Work Orders are automatically generated to track the split process

  • Backdating is possible but should be used carefully

Best Practices

  • Use clear, descriptive names for new batches to easily identify them later

  • Double-check the number of plants in each batch before confirming the split

  • Add detailed notes in the Work Order description for future reference

  • Regularly review and update your batch management process to improve efficiency
