Overview

Sometimes Plants outgrow their space or head in different directions. That’s where splitting comes in. Whether you need to manage different Growth Stages or organize by room, this guide helps you log those changes cleanly and traceably.

Before You Start

  • You’ll need permission to split Batches. Admins and Members have this covered.

  • Decide if you’re doing an Offshoot (part of the original stays) or a full split into Two New Batches.

  • (Optional) Check your team’s naming convention, especially if you’re creating a new Batch.

Step 1: Go to the Batch You Want to Split

Let’s begin at the source.

  1. Open the Batch Detail page of the Batch you want to split.

  2. Click Batch Actions.

  3. Select Split Batch by Plants.

Pro Tip: Splitting is a smart way to handle diverging conditions or changes in space.

🗒️ Note: Make sure you're on the correct Batch if you're juggling multiple production areas.

Step 2: Fill In the Split Details

Now define how you want to split things up.

  1. Choose your Split Type:

    • Offshoot Batch – Keeps the original Batch as-is and spins off the selected Plants into a new or existing Batch.

    • Two New Batches – Closes the original and creates two new ones for the Plants.

  2. If using Offshoot Batch:

    • Select New Batch or Existing Batch.

    • Enter the number of Plants moving.

    • 🗒️ Need help creating a Batch? Check the “Create a Cultivation or Production Batch” tutorial.

  3. If using Two New Batches:

    • Enter the number of Plants for each new Batch.

  4. (Optional) Backdate the move using the Move Date picker.

  5. Click Split Batch to complete the process.

🎉 All done! Your Plants are now tracked in their new Batches.

Pro Tip: Every split is logged as a Work Order — add a Description or note which Equipment was used.

🗒️ Note: Use the Move Date to log past actions if you're catching up on paperwork.

Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Can't complete the split?

    • Fix: Check if any previous actions (like Moves or Propagations) are causing conflicts with the split. You’ll need to resolve those first.
