Purpose

The New Plant feature on the Plants List page allows users to add new plants to their inventory. This action automatically creates a work order to document the plant addition.

What can you do with it?

With New Plant, you can:

  • Add one or multiple new plants to your inventory

  • Specify details like cultivar, growth stage, and destination batch

  • Generate a work order to track the plant addition

  • Backdate the plant creation if needed

How is it done?

Follow these steps to add new plants:

  1. Plant Details

    • Name (optional): Set custom plant names

    • Reason: Select or enter a reason for adding the plant

    • Cultivar: Choose from your list of cultivars

    • Destination Batch: Assign plants to a specific batch

    • Plant Stage: Select the current growth stage

  2. Quantity and Timing

    • Number of Plants: Enter the quantity of plants to add

    • Time: Set the date and time for plant creation (defaults to current time if left empty)

  3. Review and Submit

    • Double-check all entered information

    • Click "Submit" to create the plants and generate the work order

Important Considerations

  • The work order name will include the selected reason or custom reason if "Other" is chosen

  • Backdating is possible but should be used carefully to maintain accurate records

  • Ensure cultivar and growth stage selections are accurate, as they'll be applied to all new plants in this action

Best Practices

  • Use consistent naming conventions for plants when utilizing the optional Name field

  • Regularly review and update your list of cultivars and growth stages to ensure accuracy

  • Double-check all information before submitting to avoid errors in your inventory and work orders

  • Use the backdating feature judiciously and only when necessary to maintain data integrity
