Purpose

On the Work Order Detail page, users can create a Destruction Event of Inventory that is associated with a Batch. This feature allows for accurate tracking of inventory losses due to destruction within the context of a work order.

What can you do with it?

You can document the destruction of inventory items linked to a specific batch. This helps maintain precise inventory records, ensuring that destroyed items are properly accounted for in the system. It's particularly useful for tracking quality control measures, waste management, or compliance with regulatory requirements.

How is it done?

Follow these steps to create a Destruction Event:

  1. Select the Destruction Lot

    • Choose from the list of Open Destruction Lots

  2. Specify the Inventory Details

    • Select the Inventory Product from Work Order Input/Output

    • Choose the Active Batch from Work Order Input/Output

    • Pick the Active Lot from Work Order Input/Output

  3. Enter Destruction Information

    • Input the Quantity to be destroyed

    • Select the Inventory Unit associated with the chosen Inventory Product

    • Choose the Destruction Reason from the provided options

  4. Add Description and Timestamp

    • Enter comments in the Description field (this becomes the destruction event description)

    • Set the Timestamp for the event (optional - defaults to current date and time if left empty)

  5. Review and Confirm

    • Double-check all entered information

    • Submit the Destruction Event

Important Considerations

  • The Timestamp cannot be backdated before the Work Order Open Date & Time

  • Ensure the selected Destruction Lot is appropriate for the inventory being destroyed

  • Verify that the Quantity and Inventory Unit are accurate to maintain correct stock levels

Best Practices

  • Always provide a detailed Description to explain the reason for destruction

  • Regularly review open Destruction Lots to ensure timely processing

  • Use consistent Destruction Reasons to facilitate reporting and analysis

  • Double-check the Batch and Lot information to prevent errors in inventory tracking
