Overview of Move Location vs. Work Orders

The Move Location function within the inventory listing is designed to replicate inventory seamlessly across locations. When using this action, the system creates identical input and output records, keeping the inventory identity consistent across both locations. However, this is an automated function, and it doesn’t allow for manual replication in work orders.

Options for Moving Inventory Manually

If you need to move inventory manually or across multiple sites, here are the available options:

  1. Using the Move Location Action:

    • For a quick transfer, go to the inventory listing and use Move Location to transfer all quantities of a specific item within the same inventory lot.

    • This option is best for single, straightforward transfers where maintaining inventory identity is essential.

  2. Moving Inventory Manually with Work Orders:

    • Lot Actions: To move all inventory within a specific lot, go to the lot, select Lot Action -> Move Lot.

    • Work Order: To move specific inventory items, go to/create "Change Location" WO type -> Intup the inventory you need to change location for -> Output the same inventory with the input quantity to a desired location.

Note: The system doesn’t currently support moving inventory between different lots using a single work order. You’ll need to create separate move actions for each individual lot or location.
