Overview
Let’s be honest: inventory doesn’t always go according to plan. Whether it’s aged out, failed inspection, or something got messed up (it happens!), you’ll need to record it. That’s where a Destruction Event comes in—think of it as your paper trail. These events are grouped into something called a Destruction Lot.
Before You Start
Double-check these things before you begin:
You have permission to destroy inventory (Admins and Members are all set)
You know exactly which Inventory Item you're destroying
You’re clear on the reason for the destruction
Step 1: Find the Right Inventory
Let’s find the item you want to destroy.
Go to the Batch Detail page tied to the inventory.
Click on Batch Actions.
Choose Processing Destruction.
Select the Inventory Product you want to destroy.
✅ Pro Tip: Not working within a batch? You can also destroy non-batch inventory straight from the Inventory Product or Inventory Item detail pages.
Step 2: Fill Out the Form
This form tells the system exactly what you're destroying and why.
Pick a Destruction Lot or click the
+
to make a new one.Confirm that the Product and Batch fields are correct.
Check the Inventory Exists in System box if you're logging items that aren’t system-tracked (like leftover foliage).
(Optional) Choose a Destroy From Lot if you're pulling from a specific inventory lot.
Select specific Inventory ID(s), or tick Use Remaining Inventory to automatically pull what’s left.
Fill in the Quantity and select the right Inventory Unit (e.g., grams, liters).
Look at the Amount Available to make sure you’re not destroying more than you’ve got.
Choose a Destruction Reason, or hit the
+
to add a new one if needed.Add a Description for extra details, and set a Timestamp to backdate if necessary.
Click Create to log the destruction and make it official.
Troubleshooting

Fix: Head to the Inventory Ledger for that batch to confirm the item still exists and hasn’t already been used up or destroyed.
